I wanted to create the idea that this majestic stag is watching the on coming storm clouds. The reality is this is a decorative victoriana sculpture on top of a disused hunting lodge.

Location
I took this photo in a lovely suburb of London called Wimbledon (famous for tennis ). This is the mascot / sculpture on the roof of an old hunting lodge (circa 18th century).Time
The photo was taken in the early afternoon.Lighting
Midday had been quite sunny but storm clouds were looming. If you had seen the clear blue sky 30 minutes before I took this image you would find hard to believe it was taken on the same day.Equipment
I used my mobile phone. I tend to use my phone as a notebook / sketchbook for images. Then I return to the location with my camera and take detailed images. Clearly due to the unique clouds and light that day this image would be impossible to recreate.Inspiration
I remembered seeing wonderful victorian paintings of majestic stags proudly standing high in the mountains with dramatic sky's behind them. I tried to emulate that impression.Editing
The original image was in colour, but it looked almost b & w. So I converted it into b & w proper. I added a little bit of sharpening to enhance the silhouette. I gave the contrast a little boost for drama. In my camera bag
Nikon D3,, 28-120mmy and a 50mm.Feedback
I am a great believerange in the best camera is the one on you. Weather that's a phone, compact or slr/dslr. Capture the moment with whatever tool is handy. I was lucky with timing, light and location if I had gone home to bring my preferred equipment this moment would of been lost.
