Reality check. The model in said picture is actually of grey/white markings. The golden light shone upon her. I captured the transformation of colour. Her look was a hypnotic feed me now. ps said model is called Mia.....meaning Missing in Action. Yep a lazy glorious cat.

This photo was taken in my garden in the Summer. Mia loves sitting in the sun watching the world go by.Time
It was just after three in the afternoon, Mia had had her dinner.Lighting
The light had changed to a lovely golden glow. Mia is a grey tabby cat, but seeing the light change her markings you would never of known.Equipment
This was a fleeting moment, I had no time to run indoors and grab my Nikon. So I used my phone to capture this. Basically point and shoot.Inspiration
Mia sat upright (she is normally curled up like a ball) and her stare enhanced by the lush light. I took a full body photo but it was bland. So I decided to get in close, by concentrating on the left hand side I feel the image is more dramatic.Editing
A little bit of cropping and a little bit of sharpening and that's all.In my camera bag
Nikon D3, and a Nikon F4 loaded with B/W film. Nikkor lenses 24mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4, 105mm f2.8 macro and a 70~200mm f2.8. A polariser filter and a couple of ND filters. A compact cf tripod.Feedback
If the subject isn't skittish try to get up close. Failing that use a zoom or telephoto to get similar result. Set motordrive to fast. Nothing worse than a great image ruined because the subject blinked. All of you pet owners what are you waiting for!? No modelling fees, no model release forms. Forget those full body photos, get up close and see your pet in a new light.
