Location
This photo was taken of my friend's cat, Megan. I stayed with my friend in Phoenix, Arizona for a few weeks while traveling the West Coast of the United States. Megan and I became great friends.Time
This photo was taken in the late afternoon. I tried about 4 other times over the course of a week to photograph Megan but she was very camera shy. One day I saw her relaxing by the window, grabbed my camera and finally caught this shot of her.Lighting
This was all natural light from the window she was near.Equipment
I used a Canon 60D with a Canon EF 50mm F/1.8.Inspiration
I just fell in love with Megan's spirit and wanted to capture her stunning eyes.Editing
I cropped the photo to get more impact and darkened out some of the background as well some other minor clean up and sharpening of the eyes.In my camera bag
I shoot on a Canon 60D with the following equipment: - Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens - Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 IS USM Lens - Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens - Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens - Canon Speedlight 430EX - Remote Trigger - TripodFeedback
When shooting portraits of animals, try to get down on their level and always focus on the eyes. Sharp, clear eyes make for stunning photos. I also like clean black or white backgrounds or ones with great bokeh.
