The photo was taken over an 8 month period when a Peacock appear in my garden, while trying to rehome him his tail grew and grew which gave me a great opportunity to take many pictures and to studies him, the way the light makes the feather iridescent really caught my eyeTime
Taken in the afternoon while the Peacock was resting on a shed roof in the garden, it was a time when he was still and resting so I could really get in and take some closer images.qLighting
I used the natural light on a sunny day, the colours when the sun was away were not so vibrant and would fade until the sun hit them so trying to get the right light was very important to get the same bright colourEquipment
I used a Cannon Powershot SX510 HX, a tripod and I then just rely on what I can see, this image was taken freehand without any other equipment as the bird would make movement taking the image out of focus and making it difficult to use a tripod, I used a the zoom lens with macro to achieve the imageInspiration
The colours are just beautiful and vibrant, I find taking images with lots of colour just a wonder to look at, I also wanted to capture the image before he lost his feathers and to capture it before they were goneEditing
I always try and keep the pictures I take true to how they were when taken but I do play around with the contrast and brightness to make a picture popIn my camera bag
Just a camera and sometimes a tripod which I use for balance and stillness when I want to loose camera shack on macro and lond distance shots, the rest of it is just what comes from me and what I see and feel when taking an imageFeedback
I would advise people to enjoy taking your photography and do it as often as you can, take yourself to new places you have never been for inspiration and explore, Take many pictures if the same subject and move about taking the same image from different angles, move a few feet to the left or right and you may have a totally picture. And above all love what you do.
