Location
This was captured in the middle of Nowhere USA, meaning Rushville, OH (population 304 lol) at the site of an old abandon barn. This is just one of many great photos taken this day here.Time
We packed up and decided to head out for some pictures. It was just something spontaneous and not planned. It was later in the evening so we were just in time to catch the golden hour light.Lighting
As I said we were just in time to catch some premium golden hour lighting but we actually were in open shade for this shot from the shadow cast of the barn.Equipment
If I remember correctly this was a Nikon D610 and the Nikon 50 1.8Inspiration
So this is somewhat humorous. I ended up getting some new lighting equipment. A new speed light, softbox, and stand. So when we decided to go out and take some pictures I was really pumped to try out the new gear. We decided on where we wanted to go and drove out to the location which was about 30 min away from our home. I made sure everything was packed in the var so I was good to go when we got there. Started setting everything up putting the light and box together etc. Went to start shooting and no flash. Did some quick troubleshooting to figure out my batteries were not charged! If I remember correctly the only reason why I agreed to go out was so I could try out the new stuff. What gives?! But I made the best of it cause we were out as a family and I still got this amazing shot of my two favorite girls. - side note - always remember to charge those batteries.Editing
Yes. I started in Lightroom just to do some basic exposure and WB fixes. I then took it into PS and ran some actions and did some retouching as well. Although I love this picture my editing style has been changing. In turn I am finding myself using almost zero Photoshop and all Lightroom. My workflow now is using mainly Lightroom and adding to my photos in different ways with ASE once done in Lightroom. I'm curious with the new ASE if I will ever end up dropping Lightroom and working strictly in Exposure. Only time will tell I guess. In my camera bag
Eventually I may purchase more equipment for myself but since I do not do photography professionally full time and it is more of a side thing for me I rent equipment. I will typically only rent a few lenses but if I were going to go purchase what I rent. I would definitely be picking up the new Tamron 35 and 85 1.8 lenses. They are extremely sharp and the AF is amazingly fast as well from my experience. I don't find myself shooting at 1.4 when I rent them and to purchase the new Tamron lenses, you are looking at a fraction of the cost at lenses they can go toe-to-toe with. So I'm not sure if I directly even answers your question yet but if I were to go out my bag would have: Nikon D610 Nikon 50 1.8 Tamron 35 1.8 Tamron 85 1.8 I use YongNuo speedlights. I was hoping they would make a Nikon equivalent RT flash like they have for Canon but since Canon bought them out I'm going to guess that won't happen. So SB-5000 we will meet one day.Feedback
Just practice. I'm by no means a professional or have even remotely close to the knowledge of even other amateur photogs. I have taught myself enough to be a little dangerous. I watched a lot of YouTube and free Creative Live. If you aren't familiar with CL and are new, do yourself a favor and visit there once your done browsing on View Bug. Photography is going to be an ever changing monster so you're always going to have to keep up on it and there is always going to be somethings g new to learn.
