Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken on the shores of Hallo Bay,in the Katmi national park,AlaskaTime
It was taken during the morningLighting
I was very lucky with the weather as there was no rain on this dayEquipment
I nearly always handhold as you don't know where the animal will move too.I use canon 7Dmark11,with a 100-400mm lensInspiration
I got a good adrenalin rush when this bear come running towards me ,as he had seen some Salmon in the shallows and his eye was on the fish not me! unfortunately he was not successful on this occasion. i was lying flat on the ground in the sphinx position.Editing
i cropped the image and adjusted the high lights and shadowsIn my camera bag
i have 2 camera bodies, both canon 7D mark11 and 5D mark111 the lens i use most are 70-200mm and 100-400mm,i use extenders 1.4 and 2x always spare CF cards and batteriesFeedback
try and keep low and concentrate on the animal, take a deep breath before pressing the shutter, this steadies the camera and DONT run!!
