Thanks for sharing 'Behind the Lens'. I'm going to Japan later this year - with camera at the ready ;-)

Stunning. My Aunt lives around there. Visited this palace as a teenager. Very nice photo. I am stunned.

Location
This is a photo of the Hyangwonjeong Pavilion, which is located at the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. I discovered this place by chance without knowing anything about it. Actually, I went there just to watch the famous "Changing of the guard ceremony".Time
I took this photo in the late afternoon, a few minutes just before the area was going to be closed for tourists. The security guards were already coming to tell me that I have to leave. One reason to be even more happier with this shot ;-)Lighting
I tried to reflect exactly the mood that I had when I discovered this awesome place. The sun was going down, most of the people had already left this area and everything was just so peaceful and untouched. I tried my best to catch the reflections on the lake and the temple being lit by the sunlight.Equipment
This photo was shot handheld using a Canon EOS 6D with a EF 24-105mm 1:4 lens at 24mm, 1/250 s, f10, and ISO 400.Inspiration
I am crazy about Asian architecture, especially when it come to colorful temples and gardens. From my impression, a visit to the Hyangwonjeong Pavilion is worth much more than watching the rest of the palace ;-)Editing
As I always shoot in raw, I have to bring my photos back to life. In this case, I applied my usual landscape workflow in Lightroom, which means that I applied some global light and color corrections. I also applied some local adjustments to add more clarity and increase the blacks at some parts of the photo. In my camera bag
I usually carry a Canon EOS 6D with me, equipped with a EF 24-105mm 1:4 L and a EF 70-200mm 1:4L lens. Often, I also put a EF 50mm f/1.8 II in my bag, which I like very much for street, especially when the light conditions become challenging in the evening or at night. I also carry two additional battery packs and 32-64 GB of card storage with me. When I am going to unknown locations, on a longer journey, or when I have simply planned some special shots, I definitely also bring my MeFoto travel tripod with me. If space allows, I also pack several filters (Pol, ND) into my bag.Feedback
Well, this might be just my personal preference but I can strongly recommend to go for a photo journey somewhere in Asia. It doesn't matter if its Korea, China or Japan. I can guarantee you that you will come back with gigabytes of amazing shots. And finally, if you have found an amazing location, try to be there at sunset ;-)
