Location
The photo was taken in the Powerhouse in Brisbane, the place has a very industrial feel.Time
The shot was taken during the lunchtime rush, as it was in a very dark building, the time of day did not matter.Lighting
The place where I was standing was very dark, and it was the light from the windows that caught my eye. I did not use a tripod, but did set the ISO at 400.Equipment
I had my brand new Canon 6D with my trusty Canon 24-105mm f/4 lens.Inspiration
It was the thought of me peering into the busy world beyond the glass, no one on the other side knew that I was there, it was almost like peering into a parallel world.Editing
I used Lightroom to convert to B&W, did a little dodge and burn and that was that.In my camera bag
Canon 6D body, Canon 24-105mm f/4, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8, Canon 40mm f2.8, Canon Speedlite 600EX-RTFeedback
I went to the Powerhouse with a particular shot in mind (not this one), I stumbled across this shot, which turned out to be the best, and don't be afraid to ramp up the ISO. I also try to limit myself to taking no more that 2 shots of a subject, i obviously check in camera for focus etc, this way I force myself to 'try' to nail the composition, exposure and aperture, first or second shot.
