Location
This photo was taken in Inuvik NWT Canada during the cold and dark period of winter.Time
This is one of my favourite pictures because it captures the colours of a long winter sunset. Winters are long and dark in the Canadian north and only the most rugged people can survive. When the sky lights up with such beautiful colours, even the most starkest of trees, the black spruce, come to life and a worth a photograph. It was -35C so cold and crisp.Lighting
This colour in the sky is special because outdoor photos are ones you can’t control with lights, reflectors or flashes. You find it and celebrate the natural lighting effect.Equipment
This was shot with a canon sx60. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
It was really cold and I carry the camera inside my coat. It has to be really good shot for me to stop and get everything out and rush frostbite. But this one was. It represents the stark beauty of northern people as they look for beauty in everyday sights.Editing
Just a little cropping and slight sharpening. In my camera bag
Just the camera. Too cold to spend time fiddling with extra things.Feedback
Get outside any time you can even when it’s cold and getting dark. You never know what beauty you can find it you take the chance to explore.
