Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken at the Renaissance Faire in St. Charles, MO

Time

Roughly 2 or 3 pm.

Lighting

The lighting was actually being filtered through the trees which created some nice dappled light.

Equipment

This was taken handheld using my Nikon D7000 and 70-200 VR lens.

Inspiration

I notice this guy all day and wasn't able to get a good shot the first couple of times and not long before we left he came back around and I was able to get this profile shot. I wanted a tight crop to fill the frame since his makeup was so bright.

Editing

Only enhanced the saturation and vibrance along with some sharpening. Not much to do to it.

In my camera bag

I usually carry both my D7000 and D700 along with several lenses. I recently bought the Tokina 17-35 F/4 and it stays glued to the D700 and I also carry my Sigma 24-70 and 70-200. I have two flashes and remote triggers, a tripod and remote release.

Feedback

Like everything else we do in photography you have to be patient sometimes to get the shot. Although patience doesn't always work as it can cause you to miss your shot. But the most important advice I can ever give is to always ensure your camera settings are correct and where you want them before you take your shot. There's nothing worse than grabbing your camera and pressing the shutter to only realize the image is either blown out or too under exposed.
