Location
This was shot in the early morning in Lahaina HI while enjoying a cup of coffee.Time
Being from NJ, jet lag is an issue. It was my first morning there I really hadn't slept all night. So as soon as the sun rose, I made a pot of coffee, grabbed my camera and went for a walk on the beach right outside on the condo I was staying in. About 1000 feet down the beach is this little rocky area.Lighting
All natural lighting. I am pretty sure I had a graduated nd filter on the lens. Unfortunately I don't remember which one.Equipment
Canon, 5D. Mark III, I used the canon L 40-70 wide angle lens. Camera was on the ground for this shot. But I was using a carbon fiber tripod with a Really Right Stuff ball head.Inspiration
I was just walking on the beach and came to this area. Not sure what more inspiration you need to take a photo here. LOL! Everywhere you turn is a perfect place to photograph.Editing
Post processing was used of course. I punched up the color a bit. Darkened the effect of the ND filet and added a vignette. Use a bit or sharpening. That's what I can remember. In my camera bag
Canon 5d Mark III, Canon L 70-200, Canon L 300mm for motorsports, Sigma 50mm 1.4, Canon L 85mm 1.2, Canon L 40-70mm, Hasselblad HD5 50c, Hasselblad 85mm and a Hasselblad 50-110mm. I also carry my grandfathers 35mm Konica T3 Autoreflex and a Widelux if I have room in my bad. I use Profoto B1's in and out of the studio.Feedback
Get up early, keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings. And most importantly, have your camera ready!
