Behind The Lens

Location

In Stratford CT this is The Washington Bridge which carries U.S. Route 1 traffic over the Housatonic River between Milford and Stratford CT

Time

Sunrise at around 5:30 AM

Lighting

Natural Lighting took a few visits to catch just the right light which I did this morning

Equipment

Ricoh IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. Pentax K-3 TAMRON AF 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 Di II LD Aspherical [IF] MACRO

Inspiration

I see this bridge daily on my train commute into NYC and love its architectural design and always wanted to capture a photo of it at its best, occassioanlly pop back to try and get better shots of it at different angles and times

Editing

This was a 5 SHOT HDR image, merged in Photomatix, and then tweaked in Photoshop and lightroom, primarily contrast and sharpening

In my camera bag

Ricoh IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. Pentax K-3 TAMRON AF 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 Di II LD Aspherical [IF] MACRO Tamron 90mm Macro lens PENTAX DA 10-17mm Spare memory cards and Batteries

Feedback

I find perseverance is key when trying to get sunrise shots such as this, each day the tones, colors and levels of the sunrise can change dramatically and it may take many visits to get the colors that you hope for in a shot Also I think its important to move around to various viewpoints to find the framing that you want in the shot, I have taken shots of this bridge from various viewpoints all around it over time, this viewpoint with the pier leading into the bridge is one of my favorite views of it
