Thank you Marthe! I am just thankful I was lucky enough to capture it. I see some pretty spectacular sunrises and sunsets here on my farm, but I can't always get out quickly enough to get that "shot" :)

Would you believe this photo is completely unaltered? This is exactly what the lighting produced....I am still amazed!

Thank you! I can't take any responsibility for the atmosphere that moring....this is exactly how it was. :) Interestingly, this was taken with a point and shoot.

Location
This photo was taken on my farm and is a paddock located within view of my house. I love that I can see my horses by just glancing out the window. The light was so captivating, I absolutely HAD to capture it!Time
It was almost noon on an unusually warm November day in 2011.Lighting
The mist, or fog, hadn't burned off because it was November and it took some time for the ground to warm up. The sunlight through the mist created an ethereal quality and gave some interesting effects to the subjects.Equipment
The only camera in my possession at the time was a Samsung point and shoot. I no longer have the camera but I believe it was a 14 MP and was small enough to fit in a pocket, which I loved. I could take it anywhere and get some great shots. I had no tripod and the flash was set to 'off' so I could capture the light and not wash it out.Inspiration
It was mainly the light that inspired me. I love the effect it has on the subjects. Many of my photos are taken in this kind of light.Editing
The only processing done with this photo is a bit of cropping and some boosting of levels. Very little adjustment was needed. In my camera bag
Currently I own a Canon T2i with a Canon EFS 18-55mm and a Canon EFS 55-250mm, various filters. I would REALLY like to purchase a 'point and shoot' or cross-over camera to add to what I have.Feedback
Be ready to take a photo anytime, anywhere, and don't worry what you are wearing. When people see your camera they will understand! :) At the time this photo was taken,I had not had much sleep the previous night and was still in my pajamas but that didn't stop me from going out to get this shot. Let me add, I live beside a busy road. Be ever wary of the lighting conditions - they can change rapidly and you will miss the shot. The camera used here was a point and shoot with no manual adjustment, so what I saw was what I got. When I go out to take this type of shot with my Canon, I prefer the TV setting because it allows me to adjust shutter speed, ISO,picture style, exposure, metering etc. In a typical situation I would keep the shutter speed somewhere between 1/30 and 1/100, although if you are shooting towards the light source, as I am here, I would leave it on auto, the ISO I tend to keep on auto although, in this shot where I am aiming at the light source, 100 ISO is plenty ( grain doesn't seem to affect picture quality too much ) , exposure from mid range to slightly higher - may need to be adjusted depending on your subject.Other settings would be evaluative metering and continuous shooting due to the fact the light can change rapidly. When I am taking a shot like this manually, I am continually making adjustments and I take several test shots with them and that gives me something to choose from later on. I would say be prepared to adjust your settings - you can't always trust auto, it can wash out a shot. Fortunately in the case of the photo seen here, I had no adjustments to make. I do love a quality point and shoot!
