Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the North Georgia mountains in Tallulah Gorge State Park, rather rugged terrain with a lot of possibilities.

Time

This was taken on 10.28 around 2pm in the afternoon liking back up from Hurriance Falls. Most of the time you are heads to mind where you step. I just happened to look up as the sun came out and lit up the leaves over me.

Lighting

The trees still had a lot of leaves on them so when the sun came out the light was pretty filtered. There were these pockets where the sun shown through but was not overly strong.

Equipment

Canon EOS 70D EF17-40mm f/4L USM ƒ/5.6 Focal Length 40.0 mm Shutter 1/100 ISO 100 Tripod turned into a makeshift monopod.

Inspiration

I am sucker for back lighting and I find it challenging to expose properly to capture the details.

Editing

Just a little, removed some haze to boost the clarity and added a small vignette to draw the viewers eye to the branch and leaves.

In my camera bag

Canon 70D EF17-40mm f/4L USM 50 mm kit lens EF 70-200mm f.2.8 L Series Zoom lens All lenses have polarizers and UV filters 10X ND filter MIOPS Mobile remote sensor and shutter release A golf range finder to help with hyperfocal distance, since I am still working on that

Feedback

Don't be afraid to underexpose a bit, the light coming in will be more than enough to work with in post processing.
