While visiting a friend with a small farm, I was snapping pictures when this peacock came up and started staring at me. It was the perfect chance to get a great closeup shot and really capture the stunning beauty of their eyes and head.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at a friends farm.

Time

I took the photo in the early afternoon hours.

Lighting

The day was a bit overcast but just enough brightness to get good exposure.

Equipment

Canon EOS Rebel XS.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the vibrant color of the birds head. Most people take full shots if the birds but I loved the expression and colors.

Editing

I used minor Lightroom editing.

In my camera bag

I normally have 2 lenses, multiple batteries, and a UV filter.

Feedback

Be patient and look for the unusual shot. I take hundreds of photos and typically only keep a small percentage.
