On the mountain bike ride up the canyon to observe the bighorn sheep rut, I immediately spotted what appeared to be a long stick crossing the access road. As I approached the stick was moving and realized it was a very long Bull Snake (aka Gopher snake) making its way to the tall grasses. Definitely at about the limit that these snake grow (6 ft = 183 cm), I warned the three horseback riders of the snake being present. Horses are know to be curious and potentially afraid of snakes.
