Early in 2022, 13 men, women and children political refugees sailed from Cuba to one of the small islands in the Florida Keys and were met by a truck and whisked away. This is known by someone who witnessed the landing from a nearby home. The Key West area is the closest point to Cuba, so this happens quite often. The boat is actually two boats riveted together to give it a higher freeboard to allow for many passengers in higher waves.
