Location
This was taken on Warren Avenue in Framingham, Massachusetts, while on a photographic outing around my neighborhood. These outings often include Farm Pond Park, the most frequent subject and location of my photography.Time
It was a lovely morning, about 7 am, early in June.Lighting
It was early morning with dew on the many lawns. This was taken in the shade.Equipment
I used a Canon RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM on a Canon RP.Inspiration
There was something about the grass and the dew that caught my eye. My preferred genre can be called Urban Wildlife. But really, I shoot whatever catches my eye, which often turn out to be birds, insects, and reflections. When I'm out with my camera, I shoot something then move on. It is only once I'm looking at the day's photos on my computer, do I see what I've taken.Editing
I used Luminar 4 to tweak color and contrast and Digikam on Manjaro Linux to crop and make any final adjustments. In my camera bag
Now, I use a Canon RP with an Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM and either an RF 50 mm/f1.8 STM or an RF24-240mm f4-6.3 IS USM. In addition, I usually have Hoja Starscape & Circular Polarizing filters and often have a travel tripod. There are two apps on my smartphone that I rely upon heavily for identification of birds and plants: Merlin from the Ornithology Department of Cornell University and LeafSnap for plants. Merlin allows the user to identify birds by their calls.Feedback
Be open to letting the familiar surprise you. The advice to specialize in a particular genre is commonly given. However, if you shoot what interests you, you will find yourself with favorite subjects and preferred methods. More than anything else, photography should be fun. If photography is fun, you will find yourself becoming very familiar with the quirks and peculiarities of your subjects.
