Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my backyard in Weston, CT.

Time

This was taken late afternoon when the sun was starting to set behind the trees in my backyard

Lighting

The sun was lower in the sky and caught a beautiful sparkle in the subjects eyes

Equipment

This was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III using a 50mm. No tripod or flash was used to create the image

Inspiration

His beautiful eyes inspired me in this picture. I knew his eyes would be amazing in black and white because they are light. I wanted simplistic so the focus is on his eyes. I lean towards black and white images and always think about how an image would best captivate the viewer

Editing

I used Lightroom and turned the image to black and white and increased exposure particularly with his eyes

In my camera bag

My Canon EOS 5D III, 50mm and 85mm. I always have my bunny shutter hugger to catch the attention of children and create a way to get authentic smiles during a session. I have a notepad and pen to write down anything from the session that I can improve on or something I learned to help my next session. And lastly, I carry my business cards, you never know when you will need one!
