Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in a volcanic wildlife reserve on the island of Hawaii.

Time

Shot in the early evening, the steam vents were very visible in the low sun.

Lighting

I wanted this shot to have a very natural look, to speak for itself as it was.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D3400 with an 18-55mm kit lens for this shot.

Inspiration

I was drawn to the beautiful reds and greens contrasted by the eeriness of the poisonous steam in the background; the life amongst death.

Editing

This particular shot came out of camera very well, but I did apply a slight boost to saturation in the reds and greens, as well as the contrast. I also applied some sharpening.
