I was fascinated by the little alleyways in Beirut. This was in the Armenian area. Tiny streets, packed with cars on either side, as drivers squeeze through and scooters zip by.

Above their heads thousands of wires and cables going this way and that, held together in bundles with zip ties.

Laundry on ropes and rugs over balconies, and stray cats meandering by as the faint, quick honks of motorists talking to each other sound in the nearby streets.

Like being in a different world, separated by only a row of buildings.
