The Body Remembers is a collection of photographs about the hardships of adolescence and the sacrifices of a dancing career. I accompany young dancers in everyday situations when their usual training cycle has been disturbed by a pandemic. Locked in the four walls of their rooms, devoid of stage attributes, they still remain in the role that, in a way, defines them as people - girls slowly turning into women. In this process of transformation, there is a kind of anxiety and fear for the future. Ambition and perseverance in training the body is mixed with the desire to reach for dre-ams. When photographing teenagers, I ask myself who is a woman in contemporary culture, what does she look like at the beginning of her journey? What is at the root of its identity and what con-stitutes freedom and escape from the framework imposed by cultural patterns? I confront the myth of a dancer and a dance performance, and the perception of women through the prism of the body, entangled in a patriotic stereotype. I try to tell from the perspective of herstory.
