Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at an old abandoned water tower

Time

Taken around early afternoon on a dreary kind of day, heavily overcast and in between showers

Lighting

I remember a long time ago being told, "Find the light, and put your subject in it" Good advice that I use quite frequently. I got my subject to slightly lean out of the window to have more light fall on her, spot metered and the inside just fades to black.

Equipment

Shot with my usual Canon 1D mkIV, lens attached, a Canon 70-200 f2.8, I don't get to shoot enough portraits with this combination.

Inspiration

Wanting to do more spot metering and placing subjects in the light

Editing

I like to keep my processing simple, it's pretty much SOOC, but in lightroom, I added a small amount of clarity and dropped the saturation back a touch

In my camera bag

Canon 1D mkIV, I pre-plan what I am hoping to shoot, so it's a case of 50mm, 70-200, Sigma Art 24-105 or if sport then it's usually the 100-400 that gets a run. Any flash work I do is with the Godox AD200 pro

Feedback

As mentioned above, find the light and put your subject in there
