Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the beach in the Eastern U.S. during a blizzard.

Time

This was taken in the late morning after the sun was done coming up over the beach and the snow clouds had rolled in.

Lighting

I always use natural lighting. The sun illuminating the thick snow clouds from behind gave an interesting color to them.

Equipment

I did not use anything special, just my phone. I found my myself in a moment where I could capture a nice image and just took it.

Inspiration

When I saw the snow coming in I wanted to capture the juxtaposition of the blizzard conditions on what is a typically warm summer location.

Editing

In editing i wanted the blues and grays of the sky to stand out against the white snow.

In my camera bag

I typically carry my Nikon D3500 but when I do not have it I will just use my phone.

Feedback

Part of the success with nature and landscape photography is timing. Just bring in the right place at the right time. When that happens be prepared to capture it.
