Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken on Chrome Ridge in Southern Oregon in September facing east towards Mt McLoughlin. This area was decimated in the Biscuit Fire of 2002 and is still trying to repair itself.

Time

I shot this image at 6:45am just as the sun was coming up towards the East.

Lighting

I used all natural lighting.

Equipment

I took this image with a Nikon D7100 with a 24-85mm Nikkor lens all attached to a tripod for a sturdy platform.

Inspiration

My inspiration for this image was the wonderful colors of the rising sunrise along with the the dead trees showing how destruction can still be beautiful and can come to life once again.

Editing

I used Adobe Lightroom CC for small adjustments and fine tuning of the Raw file. The rest was mother natural.

In my camera bag

I usually have my Nikon D800 , D500, 24-85mm 3.5 lens, 85mm 1.8 lens, 70-200mm 2.8 lens, 105mm 2.8 lens, Tokina 16-28mm 2.8 lens, Tameron 150-600mm lens Vanguard tripod, extra batteries, cleaning kit.

Feedback

For someone wanting to capture and image like this on I would tell them to get up early in the morning and find a good vantage point that holds all the characteristic you would like to have with in the image. And most importantly take many shots due to the changing of the sky's colors as the sun rises and have fun doing it. Mother nature will give you some pretty amazing colors.
