The humble Ladybird is one of my favourite animals. It's beautiful colouration and pattern has made its mark on UK culture so much as the Robin, that a series of children's books are titled after it.
And despite it's beauty, the ladybird is in fact a voracious predator that feeds on aphids and other vegetable-munching pests, but for this reason it is the Gardener's best friend.
So the next time you see a ladybird-bug, love its beautiful colouration and respect its appetite!
