This photo was taken just west of Longreach, in Queensland, Australia. I had followed a flooded river, from the highway, for around a kilometre when I came across this portion f tarmac that stretched across a bit of odd a wire crossing the river.Time
The photo was taken just after sunset when the colours in the sky were at their bestLighting
The lighting was provided by nature with the shot being lit by the sky light just after the sun had setEquipment
I used a Canon R5 with my favourite travel lens, the RF 24-240 mm lens. The shot was hand held.Inspiration
I liked the dilapidated road, further breaking down in the flooded waters, but really the loved the reflections in the water and the feeling that the road had seen better days once and carried some interesting traffic to somewhere before being left to be recovered by natureEditing
Yes, I increased the contrast a bit and lowered the highlights to bring out the colours in the sky. I also increased the warmth a tad.In my camera bag
I have a Canon R5 and a 90D. My lenses for the R5 include my trusty travel lens the RF 24 - 240, a wide angle RF 16mm, a nifty fifty and my latest purchase a RF 100 - 500mm with a 1.4 extender. I use a Three Legged Thing travel tripod as my main tripod but have a couple of other as the situation requires. I also have a Magic Air 2S drone to get me those shots that I can’t get from the ground. I use Urth ND filters in the main as I really like the simplicity of screw on filters.Feedback
Get out there! So much beauty in nature just waiting to be found. Simple but useful techniques like get low to get different and more interesting perspectives.
