My wife and I were driving through Lamar Valley and saw this massive bull standing ten feet from the road, completely void of emotion. Every now and then, she will drive in case I need to jump out and get a shot. During this encounter, she happened to be in the driver’s seat while blocked by vehicles in a tourist jam. We were stopped on the road, so we had a minute to admire this behemoth just a few feet to our left. Impressed by his carefree demeanor, I mentioned to her how amazing it was that they couldn’t care less about vehicles being so close to them. I hadn’t even finished my sentence when this bull flipped a switch. He began bucking like crazy and proceeded to charge the truck with a look in his eye that was unlike anything I had ever seen. My typically sweet, level-headed wife began yelling profanities that I, until then, didn’t know were in her vocabulary. Thankfully, the cars ahead had just begun moving, so she slammed her foot on the gas and quickly pulled forward, narrowly escaping the imprint of a bison head in the side of my truck. Being the emotionally-supportive husband I am, I decided to silently let the event unfold while documenting it in the process. Sarcasm aside, to this day, we both agree that this is our favorite memory among our countless trips to Yellowstone.
