Behind The Lens

Location

The best time to take photographs of birds in South Florida is the mating season which occurs between February and April each year at it's peak. There are a few nature preserves which offer the best opportunity to capture shots like this one taken at Wadakohatchee Nature Preserve in Del Ray Beach Florida.

Time

The best times of day when the birds are most active is from Sunrise to around 11:00 AM. This was taken someti my e between 10:00-11:00 AM.

Lighting

Overcast days are best or Sunrise and Sunset. A oid mid day with the sun overhead.

Equipment

Canon EOS 7D - Canon EF 18-105 mm 4.5-5.6 IS telephoto

Inspiration

I have shot at this location in the past and never came away without some great captures.

Editing

Typically for most photographers the sharpen, saturation contrast, cropping and use of healing tool.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS 7D is my go to. Depending on what I am shooting I use the lense previously mentioned or my Canon EF 55-250 mm 4.5-5.6 IS Telephoto. I also use a Canon EOS 1D Mark III as well which is my Full Frame unit.
