Behind The Lens

Location

At Catherine Hill Bay Beach, New South Wales, Australia.

Time

About 4pm.

Lighting

The sun was still quite high in the sky, so the light was quite harsh.

Equipment

This was taken on my Canon 760D. 24-70mm f4 lens.

Inspiration

I was in the mood for a creative shoot, and my friend was happy to model for me! I had been interested in doing a beach shoot, so we made it happen.

Editing

Absolutely. In Lightroom I played around with the hues and increased saturation. I also increased the clarity and did some retouching on her skin.

In my camera bag

I have since upgraded to a Canon R6 and I still most often use my EF 24-70mm f4 lens with an adapter. I also have an EF 70-300mm f4, and an EF24mm and RF 50mm, and RF 24-105mm. A Canon Speedlite & magmod diffuser.

Feedback

Choose the right time of day - you can't go wrong with a good golden hour session. Make sure your model is comfortable, and happy to roll around in the sand and hold difficult poses for longer periods of time.
