This photo was taken in the small yard of my friend's apartment. She had just brought this adorable puppy, named Pretzel, home that day and was trying to get her started on potty training.Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon, but it had been a heavily overcast day, so the lighting was pretty much perfect.Lighting
Because of the heavy overcast, I had a really nice filtered natural light, so I just had the iso 500 and shutterspeed at 1/320 to let in more light it still be fast enough to not blur while in motion.Equipment
I just used my Nikon d780 with a 24-120mm f/4, handheld, of course, so I could get down and follow the very curious pup at her level.Inspiration
My sweet friend had just graduated College and this adorable puppy was her Christmas/Graduation gift to herself. When she said she was bringing Pretzel home that day, I just knew I had to be there to take their first family photos.Editing
I did minimal post processing in Lightroom, adjusting the temperature and adding a favorite preset. In my camera bag
I carry a d780 with a 24-120mm f/4 lens and a 50mm f/1.8 fixed lens. I also have my d3300 with a 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm F/1.4 always with me, just in case.Feedback
The only advice I would give is to just let the puppy do what its going to do and follow it down on it's level. I like my subject to be a little more natural rather than posed, capturing their personality in the moment.
