No idea. Just stumbled across it on a cycle ride with my wife, and couldn't resist. Gone now, demolished to make way for apartments.

Thank you. One of those photographs that I glad I captured - new apartments now on the site.

Very sad - a terrible sense of isolation and desolation. Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks - just a little tweaking in Photoshop to get the desired effect.

How unfortunate on the demolition, looks like a fun place to play with the camera :)

Location
The photograph was taken on the A66 in Cumbria, in the north west of England, about 9 miles from the market town of Penrith, at the corner of a small country lane leading towards Morland and King's Meaburn. This ruin was once a café, and bed and breakfast, long since replaced with a small block of apartments.Time
This was captured a few years ago one summer afternoon - around 4pmish, I seem to remember. I was with my wife and we were out on our bicycles, on the way back to our holiday home following a 20 mile cycle ride.Lighting
I was inspired to capture the image, partly, due to the moody natural lighting, which enhanced the white of the walls, and captured the desolation, making appear as if it was in a war zone, and the inhabitants had fled in a hurry.Equipment
At that time I was using a compact Sony Cybershot, and that was used to capture this image.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this photograph because of the many different stories it might have to tell - in this instance, what might have happened when someone forgot to turn off the gas when they went out!Editing
This is as it was!In my camera bag
These days I have a zoom lens, two usb sticks, various lens covers, lens hood, and battery charger, amongst other things, but I now use a Canon 600D.Feedback
Composition played an important part in capturing the final image. Everything was as you see it in the image. Nothing was moved, so the angle of the shot was crucial to capturing the essence, whether that was the loneliness of the building, which had probably borne witness to such a variety of people during its life, or the humour, albeit the view of the photographer - the warning sign, when there were was no one working on site!
