Location
We were stay in a caravan park at Hervey Bay Queensland Australia which is a very popular tourist destination especially so for grey nomads an Australian term for the older generation who travel in caravans.Time
It was very late in the afternoon around 6pm the sun had just gone down and I was returning from the short walk to the beach when I noticed a Rainbow Lorikeet feeding on Casuarina seeds and it wasn't to concerned about my presence so I made a few adjustments to my camera to compensate for the light and took a couple of photographs.Lighting
I was hand holding the camera and the light was very poor and I really didn't expect good results but apart from a lot of noise in the photograph it turned out pretty good and a running it through Topaz DeNoise got rid of most of the noise.Equipment
I was using my Canon 80D fitted with my trusted Tamron 18-400mm lens which never leave the camera because they are so versatile and with the low light the ISO was set at ISO 1600, f/10, 1/2000 sec and the lens set at 300mmInspiration
I have an artistic background with a passion for photography and everywhere I go so does my camera and far as subject matter goes I like to photograph anything that catches my eye and this is where I think my artistic background helps me to quickly identify a composition, if I do have a favourite subject it maybe birds because of my wildlife art experience.Editing
I shoot in RAW so all of my photographs have to processed in some way and for that I use Skylum Luminar and Aurora which I find simple to use and it gives me the results that I am looking for.In my camera bag
My bag is very simple and really doesn't involve a bag at all, it simply consist of my Canon 80D fitted with Tamron 18-400mm lens and the whole lot hangs around my neck I have just received my new and long awaited Canon R6 which will replace the 80D and be fitted my old Tamron 18-400mm lens and the 80D will probably be used as a second camera fitted with 18-55mm Canon kit lens. I do carry a tripod and monopod in my car in case it is required and these days I tend to use the monopod far more that I do the tripod.Feedback
If there was any advise I would give to beginners it would be carry your camera at all time where possible and take photographs of anything and everything that takes your fancy and be prepared for the unexpected - shoot in RAW and use a good post processor.
