Behind The Lens

Location

In Lincoln, RI, USA, on Rt. 113, a place that's also a nesting area for Herons. It is a large, marshy area filled with dead trees and foliage.

Time

Early afternoon.

Lighting

This image was created in post processing. I used a variety of filters and layer to give it the "otherworldliness" it has.

Equipment

Sony A6000 camera with a Sony 28mm lens, on a tripod, a stacked shot of 5 images of various exposures.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the devastation of the area, the dead trees and eerie landscape. I took it a step further by enhancing the look with filters.

Editing

Different filters and layer effects in ON1 Raw Photo 2020. I use this platform for all my photos because of its features and quality, without having to pay a yearly fee for owning it.

In my camera bag

Sony 28mm and 70–350mm lenses, a tripod, air bulb, cleaning cloth, and extra batteries.

Feedback

Just keep your eyes open for anything interesting and eventually you will see everything in photographic terms. I'm amazed at how I look at the world now. My perspective is totally different and I see things in terms of photographing them, how I would approach the shots, cropping, composition, etc. It's an incredibly interesting world, down to the smallest detail or object.
