Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on the beach during a hiking day in the province of Cádiz, Spain.

Time

It was in the middle of the day, so daylight and a sunny day. Not every photo has to be taken at sunrise or sunset.

Lighting

The light was pretty harsh and It was a backlighting shot.

Equipment

I used a nikon d3400 with the prime lens 35mm f/1.8.

Inspiration

I was just taking photos of my friend doing different poses and I liked this one in particular.

Editing

Yes, it has strong post-processing to make it high contrast black and white and eliminate any distractive element that could appear because I wanted it to be very minimalist.

In my camera bag

Now, I normally have my camera (nikon z50 in this moment) with the nikkor z 16-55, a flexible mini tripod and some neutral density filters. Also some extension tubes in case I have the opportunity to do some macro shots.

Feedback

When the light from the sun is strong is a good moment to take backlighting shots. Try to not have many elements on the frame so then it's easier to get a minimalistic photo. The edition is also important to get pure whites and blacks.
