You don’t have to travel halfway around the world to find beauty! This one was taken right outside my back door of the house.Time
Photography is more about luck most of the time. I was working from home and though out the day would get up to walk and mid morning the blue jays would come to the feeder. After taking many pictures this one showed up!Lighting
The best lighting I have with the snow was mid morning before the sun gets too bright! This was just the right amount of kiss of sunshine for the jay without blowing out the white.Equipment
I used a Nikon Z6 with a sigma 159-600mm contemporary. This one was hand held as most of my wildlife is. I try to use as much natural light as I can so no flash is used.Inspiration
My inspiration is trying to show what is right out your window! The key to saving nature is making it known by more people. If more see what they can find I hope it will bring conservation to the forefront!Editing
My go to for post-processing is photo shop. I will use raw first to tone down the highs and open up the shadows. I will then tweet the highlights and shadows once it is in jpeg to finish the image I see in my head.In my camera bag
My bag always has my Nikon Z6 with the Sigma150-600 attached for road travel (you always want to be ready for wildlife). The rest of the bag includes sigma 70-300, sigma 17-55, yonguo 55 prime, IPad Pro, extra batteries, cords, cleaner, and other tools that I may need for a day out.Feedback
My advice is always have your camera ready! If it makes you happy take the picture and always look to see how you can capture what you see! The more pictures you take the better you will become. On the average week I will take about 400-500 puctures!
