Three Sisters

Looking out the window of the plane as the sun begins to rise over the Rockies, the smoke from the forest fires wafts over the peaks and valleys.

Adorable chipmunk kept watching me shoot pictures at Lake Minnewanka, he was too cute not to take a picture of.

Driving around in thick fog past a snowy ice covered lake, this peninsula appeared out of the fog with a lone tree on it... I thought it was stunning.

Behind The Lens

Location

I had to drive a couple hours away in -30C tempts to find him.

Time

Got up early and left around 7am to get there. It was mid morning when we arrived and the snow was deep up past my knees if we went off the trail.

Lighting

With the temps being over -30 the sky was grey and dull.

Equipment

I had my Nikon and a 500 mm lens with me.

Inspiration

The owl was on my owl bucket list, and could not resist the urge to go when it was rumored to be spotted in the area.

Editing

There was no post processing other than changing the raw file to Jpg.

In my camera bag

Usually I carry my 500mm as well as my 140mm lenses with me when going out shooting.

Feedback

The only advice I would have is make sure you are dressed for the elements when out and take care of your equipment.
