The ruins of scotney castle in Kent.Time
After an adventure through the woods with my dog, we had a picnic on the grass which is when I took the shot. The moat water was beautifully still making for wonderful symmetry in the reflection.Lighting
Despite being such a sunny day there was enough cloud cover to diffuse a little and make everything glow.Equipment
Shot on a tripod through a 10 stop filter over 30 seconds.Inspiration
I love scotney castle, it’s calm and beautiful and they allow dogs. I shoot long exposure to capture the movement and power of nature, juxtaposed against the stillness and calm.Editing
I crop to 16:9 and do a little sharpening and colour correction. In my camera bag
My bag consists of a canon 6d, a few different length lenses and a 10stop filter. I also have a small bag with a Sony a7 and a 35mm lens as my ‘adventure camera’ - mostly used for the dogs instaFeedback
Wait, wait and wait. Revisit the same spots over and over until the conditions are right. It doesn’t matter if you keep taking the same shots, you will get better and better at them with each visit.
