Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in Pennsylvania Furnace, PA just about 10 minutes from Penn State University at a hunter/jumper horse show. My daughter was competing with her horse Knight Call (aka Knightly).

Time

Mid morning

Lighting

The day was overcast which really made the green pop out.

Equipment

Canon Rebel T6 EF 75-300 mm zoom lens, no tripod, no flash.

Inspiration

I love taking photographs of my daughter at competitions. I love to try to capture the perfect jump and it also helps calms my nerves while she is jumping over 3 feet!

Editing

Just some simple editing in the picture app on my iPhone 11. I enhanced the saturation and vibrancy to help bring the green out more.

In my camera bag

My 75-300mm lens is my go to lens for action shots at horse shows but would love to expand my equipment!

Feedback

It takes a lot of practice to capture action shots, especially when a live animal is involved. I take a ton of shots and practice on other competitors. I always take a lot of pictures beforehand to capture the best settings for lighting. I also try to use a few different settings for each round of shots I take to capture different feelings in the shots.
