The weather was cloudy and windy that day, the sun was completely covered, the visibility was high, the ambient light was soft, and only some reflections of sunlight were seen from the sea surface. This was the end of a trench. During the high tide time, the surge was very violent. Because of the strong reflections on the water surface, I used ND filters to take some long exposure effects(f-22.20sec.ISO 31).

Behind The Lens

Location

This place is located at Muriwai Beach, Auckland, New Zealand.

Time

That time was close to sunset in the evening.

Lighting

The weather was cloudy and windy that day, the sun was completely covered, the visibility was high, the ambient light was soft, and only some reflections of sunlight were seen from the sea surface. This was the end of a trench. During the high tide time, the surge was very violent. Because of the strong reflections on the water surface, I used ND filters to take some long exposure effects(f/22.20sec.ISO 31).

Equipment

I used Nikon D850, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120MM F/4G ED VR, ND filters, and TRIOPOG-1127 tripod. no flash

Inspiration

The purpose of the day was to photograph the sunset glow, but the clouds were too thick and the waves were a bit dynamic, so I tried to take some long exposure effects on the sea surface, and use the backlight to show the contrast of the texture of the rock cliffs.

Editing

Yes, Mainly do color adjustment, especially the reflective part of the sea surface, and crop the composition.

In my camera bag

Usually the necessary camera body, lenses with different focal lengths, ND filters, tripod, mobile flashlight for outdoor shooting, camera raincoat, flashlight, umbrella and connection brackets, camera spare batteries and SD cards.

Feedback
