Taos, New Mexico, is steeped in art, architecture, and culture. Among its many treasures is San Francisco de Asis Church in Ranchos de Taos. The adobe church stands at the center of religious devotion and artistic expression. Georgia O'Keeffe painted it and Ansel Adams photographed it. The church's architectural lines flow gracefully against the deep blue New Mexico sky. The church dates to the early 1800s. The military compound that once surrounded the plaza dates to the 1680s.
