Behind The Lens

Location

Took this shot in front of Science World Center Vancouber BC

Time

I was waiting for a night shot on the building when I chance upon this couple who just arrived from a ferry boat and decided to enjoy the night lights too ..it's around 7 pm and freezing cold out there.

Lighting

The light from the waiting area made it easy for me to capture and focus on the couple plus the reflection from the nearby Building lights added extra dramatic colours to it

Equipment

I used my nikon D5100 with kit lens 18-55mm .. Tripod .. No flash

Inspiration

I was told that the lights on the hockey building is scheduled to light in different colours that night that's the reason why I was on that area as I figured it will be the best place to set up my tripod and all, it was something I just tried to take a snap at while waiting for the light show and voila I saw this lovely couple in the right place And time

Editing

I cropped it a bit just to show where I'm focusing and tried to enhance the colours .. I don't overdo editing .. I want to just leave it as natural as is ..

In my camera bag

I'm just an amateur photographer , started like two years ago .. My camera bag contains my three favourite lens .. Kit lens 18-55mm , 55-200mm and my 40 mm macro nikkor lens ..ND filter, polarizer , my lens cleaner , tripod, my cheat sheet which I printed in case I really need to check on some important camera settings .. Extra battery , memory card that's all I guess

Feedback

Always have your tripod ready when you plan to go on night shots .. And try to find a nice spot for you to clearly see the subject you want to take .. Mark it and then you can go and take some snap shots while waiting for that time :) it always pays to take some few shots before the event :) that way you'll be ready
