Behind The Lens

Location

At one of my favourite local places to do birding and being in nature is at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town.

Time

Just after 8am, on a overcast misty day.

Lighting

Nothing in particular.

Equipment

Handheld, I sometimes find it hard to keep positioning my self every few seconds to follow a moving thing, so most the time I'm just out with my camera. My camera is a Nikon Coolpix B600.

Inspiration

First I took a few landscape shots of the bird with a green/brown back-round, but then I saw some purple agapanthus in the distance so when I took a step to the right I got the purple blurred in the back and tried other angles such a portrait of the prinia just before it took off.

Editing

Mainly cropping, some lighting up here and there and watermarking.

In my camera bag

Not much, depending where I'm going, charger, adapter, accessories...

Feedback

Play with the natural lighting, maybe try and come back to the same space on different days, rain or shine, overcast and misty, different times at am. and pm.
