Early spring (April) in Chicago can be dicey. Could be high winds and rainy. Could be cold and snowy. Could be hot and Sunny, sometimes all in the same day. This day that I decided to head downtown to do some photo shooting started out sunny and warm for early April. Then a "backdoor front", a weather term used in Chicago to describe a cold front that sinks down Lake Michigan from the north east and lays across the city bringing with it moist cold air from the still icy cold lake. The net result is thick fog that blankets the city. Several miles away in all directions, it is still sunny and warm. This image was taken on the lake shore bike-running path. Just minutes before the fog off the lake rolled in, it was bright sun and about 10-15 degrees warmer.
