Behind The Lens

Location
I took this picture at the Sardinia Radio Telescope in San Basilio, Sardinia.
Time
It was evening at sunset, I was taking a drive with a friend, and I had my photographic equipment with me. We passed by the radio telescope, and there was a truly spectacular light.
Lighting
I took the photo in natural light; there was a fantastic red sunset, and the radio telescope was illuminated by the lights from the facility.
Equipment
I had only a little gear with me, I had gone out for a casual stroll and some occasional shots. I used a Canon EOS 6D with a 28mm F/2.8 lens, and I didn't even have a tripod.
Inspiration
The inspiration came immediately from many science fiction movies I've seen and adore! I immediately imagined that the antenna could send signals to an alien civilization or to an Earth space base, who knows. The red light of the sunset then did the rest.
Editing
I did a lot of post-production work, as you can see!!! I reconfigured the lights on the structure that were illuminating the antenna, and I artificially added the celestial glow that appears to emanate from the antenna and rise into space, like a signal to communicate with an alien civilization. I chose the celestial color both for its contrast with the red sunset and because it inherently had something alien, unnatural about it.
In my camera bag
I'm a professional photographer, so equipment depends on what I'm shooting for, I mean, it may be for fun or for job. As for job I usually have with me Canon EOS 6D and 5D mkIV, Canon EF 24-70 F/2.8, 50mm F/1.4, 70-200 F/2.8 IS + flash, tripod, and other lenses I rarely use. As for fun I carry with me something lighter as like Canon EOS 550D with 18-200mm, Canon EOS 6D with 50mm 1.8 or 28mm 2.8.
Feedback
Use your imagination! Turn your dreams into images! Have a lot of patience and perseverance to achieve the result you desire! Study post-production, because if you don't know how to do it well, your photos will always be incomplete!
