This is Fall Creek in Shasta County, California, USA. On this particular late fall day it was aptly named indeed. I captured this image from the edge of Riverside Road which parallels the mighty Sacramento River into which the water flowing under my feet emptied in to just a few minutes later. A common deciduous tree in this area is the Bigleaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum), the leaves of which turn a vibrant yellow before falling and carpeting the ground in a gorgeous orange-brown cover.
