When I started, I didn’t know anything about photography either. I just found that if I couldn’t draw or paint ( I stink at both ), then photography was my best option. I read and experimented and burned up lots of ‘film’. Yes, I’m that old. Another photographer told me it’s ok to copy a style or technique you like. Make it your own and try to improve on it. Then, don’t compare yourself to everyone else, just focus on being you. Put in the work and the rest will take care of itself. So keep shooting and improving. Thanks for your kind words.
