Location
This was taken up at my in-laws farm, where my wife keeps her horses. The original photo had a 2nd horse stood next to her, but her ears were back and didn’t look great.Time
I took this picture on a Sunday morning, while my wife was going round the field poo picking. I have just become a member of The Guild of Photographers and have been watching some of the webinars they have with some unbelievable photographers and wanted to try out the black background.Lighting
If you want to try this type of picture, I would recommend having the horse stood in the stable doorway or field shelter, it will make blacking out the background a lot easier.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3300 with a 70-300 lens. 1/250 shutter speed.Inspiration
I am an ex amateur jockey, a big love for horses and photography and want to get into equine photography. After joining The Guild of Photographers and watching webinars about different things you can do on Lightroom & Photoshop, I had to give it a go. This was my first attempt.Editing
I used Lightroom and photoshop to help blackout the background, lighten up the horse and pull out more detail. In my camera bag
I always have my 70-300mm F4 and the standard kit lens that came with my D3300Feedback
Take lots of pictures, try different things with editing, but 1 thing I am hot on at the minute, is watching videos on editing.
