"Nyx" or maybe it should have been named "Nemesis". "With my hand on my heart, one hand on the earth with lots & lots of sparkling stars". Locations not too far from home can be advantageous for achieving near perfect conditions. This image eluded me on three nights! I know the area well & had envisioned this scene for a good 5 yrs! It was either no time to stop, wrong time of day, bad weather, full moon, too windy, mobbed out with midges, not in the right emotional head-space...I could go on & on with my list of excuses. Finally last year the bad-ass side of me kicked in & the mental image I had all those years was finally achieved. However, after all that it still look almost a year for me to edit as the night skies are most difficult for me. I over think too much, walk away, leave it for months then go back to it, procrastinate a bit more, start all over again, end up with 6 different options pretty much all looking the same unless you pixel peep, call myself all the names under the sun, tell myself Astrophotography is not for me ...blah-blah-blah ..have a wee pity-party in my head, then a further more months go by, I accidently come across it in the depths of my external hard drive & pluck up the courage to share with you all. Exhausting work for one single image!! Is it really worth it? Think of it this way~how boring life would have been without the experience, even if I hadn't made the photo, it gave me joy being out with nature, all those pretty tiny stars & the sheer vastness of the universe. The moral of this story is " just go & do it, so what if you fail, its about the experience not the final image shared on your socials".
