Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Deschutes National Forest near Bend, Oregon. The river featured is the Deschutes River.

Time

This was taken between 6:30am and 7:00am. I was on my way to Mt. Bachelor for a shoot and stopped at this riverside to use the restroom.

Lighting

The lighting was all the early morning sunrise coming through the trees.

Equipment

This was shot with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 with a 14-42mm lens

Inspiration

I was on my way to Mt Bachelor. I saw this landscape and decided to get a picture. I really didn't think much of it at the moment. When I got home and reviewed the photos, this was the best one I took during the two day trip to Central Oregon.

Editing

I ran it through Lightroom and enhanced a few things. During the Lightroom session, I hit "auto" (my first step in everything) and noticed something in the river. Just past the rock in the lower right, there is a deer that I didn't notice while I was taking the picture.

In my camera bag

Usually, I carry three lenses. 14-42mm lens, 20mm lens, and a 45-150mm lens. I also carry a tripod and monopod.

Feedback

Sometimes the best shots are the ones you didn't plan for. Have your camera ready, and if you think you see something that might be worth shooting, shoot it.
